Cabo San Lucas

A Girls' Getaway: Sunshine, Margaritas, and Endless Fun

Cabo is the ultimate getaway for sun, fun, and unforgettable memories. I came here with girlfriends to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and it was everything we hoped for - stunning views, perfect weather, and nonstop margaritas. It’s the kind of trip where you know you’re going to party and start mentally preparing weeks in advance. From lazy beach days and poolside massages to wild nights out, Cabo is always a good time.

Escaping the Cold for Cabo

Mexico with girlfriends is always a guaranteed good time. I came to Cabo for a friend’s birthday with a group of about 20 people, and let me tell you - it was absolute chaos in the best way possible. At the time, I was living in New York City, so the chance to escape the cold and trade it for sunshine, sandy beaches, and unlimited margaritas was a dream come true. We rolled in early, the weather was perfect, and the vibes were high.

All-Inclusive Shenanigans

We stayed at an all-inclusive resort, which meant we were living our best, most carefree lives. Mornings were spent having breakfast with ocean views, days were for lounging by the pool, and nights were for… well, more margaritas. We had massages, endless chips and salsa, and the hotel’s restaurants seriously did not miss. If you can eat your weight in tacos and still have room for dessert, you’re doing Cabo right.

Party on a Boat

One of the absolute highlights? We booked a private boat tour through our hotel, and it was chef’s kiss. Just our big, rowdy group and the captain, cruising around Cabo’s beautiful waters like we were VIPs. There was fun music, questionable dance moves, and just a lot of laughs. We soaked up the sun, pretended we were in a music video, and had one of the best party days ever. Pro tip: If you’re going to party on a boat, bring extra sunscreen and maybe a backup hat (RIP to the one that flew overboard).

A Night Out in Cabo

As much as we loved resort life, we had to check out the town. One night, we went to Squid Roe, and let’s just say - it did not disappoint. If you’ve never danced on a table surrounded by neon lights, confetti, and strangers who become best friends for the night, are you even doing Cabo right? Safe to say, we had our big night out and made memories that are only slightly blurry.

The Perfect Girls’ Trip

Looking back, this trip had everything - sun, food, relaxation, and just the right amount of chaos. Cabo is hands down the ultimate girls’ getaway spot, whether you’re looking for adventure, nightlife, or just an excuse to drink margaritas at noon. If you’re thinking about planning a trip, do it. Just don’t forget to pack extra Advil for the morning after.

Travel Tips

  • Best Time to Visit

    • November to May for perfect weather. Avoid hurricane season (June to October) unless you love taking chances.

  • Getting There: Fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). Pre-arrange your airport transfer - do NOT accept random taxi offers inside the airport (they’re overpriced or a scam).

  • Location: For luxury and relaxation stay in Cabo San Lucas or a resort in the Tourist Corridor.

  • Currency: Pesos or USD are widely accepted, but you’ll get better deals using pesos.

  • Packing Essentials: Cabo sun is no joke - sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a refillable water bottle will save you.

  • Safety and Scams: Cabo is generally safe, but always be aware of your surroundings. Beware of timeshare scams - just say no. Always negotiate taxi prices before hopping in.

  • Water Safety: Don’t drink the tap water - stick to bottled or filtered.

Accommodations

  • Casa Dorada Resort & Spa - Located right on Medano Beach, this hotel had ocean views, spacious suites, and was walking distance to some of the best restaurants and nightlife.

    Highlights:

    • Steps from the beach and a short walk to downtown Cabo.

    • Private beach access with lounge chairs and service.

    • Super spacious rooms with ocean-view balconies.

    • Two big pools with swim-up bars.

    • Multiple on-site restaurants, plus the best poolside chips & guac.

Top Things to Do in Cabo

  • Boat Tour to El Arco & Lover’s Beach - You have to see Cabo’s famous rock formation, El Arco. Most boat tours also stop at Lover’s Beach (swimmable)

  • Beach Day at Medano Beach - Medano Beach is the main beach in Cabo and the best place for a classic beach day. You can rent paddleboards, go jet skiing, or just post up at a beach club with a margarita in hand.

  • Best Beach Clubs - Mango Deck for wild day parties, tequila contests, and all-around chaos. Also The Office, which is more chill, great seafood, and right on the sand.

  • Sunset Cruise - Sail along the coastline with insane views while sipping on drinks (most cruises are open bar). There are chill, romantic cruises and full-on party boats - choose wisely.

  • Experience Cabo Nightlife - The clubs here don’t play around, and you’ll probably end up dancing on a table at some point.

  • Book an ATV or Camel Ride in the Desert - If you want a little adventure, head to the Baja California desert for an ATV ride through the sand dunes. For something more unique, you can do a camel ride along the beach (yes, actual camels).

  • Snorkeling or Scuba Diving at Chileno Bay & Santa Maria Beach - These beaches have clear water, coral reefs, and tons of fish.

  • Relax at a Spa or Do a Beachfront Massage - Much needed after a big night out. Most resorts have incredible spa services, or you can find a massage spot right on the beach for a more casual (and cheaper) experience, which is what we did.

Restaurants & Food Picks

Eating in Cabo is half the fun - whether it’s tacos on the beach or a fancy dinner with ocean views, you really can’t go wrong. Here are some of the best spots we tried:

  • Funky Geisha Los Cabos: Blend of Japanese and Thai cuisine. Known as "the best and freshest sushi in Cabo."

  • The Office - Beachfront brunch and seafood.

Since we stayed at Casa Dorada Los Cabos, we mostly ate at some of their restaurants and they did not disappoint.

  • 12 Tribes - Oceanfront Fine Dining. Our go-to spot for a nicer dinner with a view.

  • Okianus - Poolside chips, guac, and margaritas. Super casual, but the food hits the spot - especially after a long day in the sun.

  • Maydan - We started most mornings here with breakfast overlooking the ocean. The buffet has fresh fruit, omelets, pastries, and all the coffee you need to recover from the night before.
